Lauren joins the Gnome Road team with her debut picture book, The Holiday Train, lovingly crafted from her own experience embracing the community spirit of joy and giving that accompanies the (real!) train's annual trip across parts of Canada and the US to collect food and money donations for those in need. Paired with the soft, yet colorful illustrations of artist Lisa Blakeborough, this lyrical ode to an annual tradition is sure to  become a holiday story time favorite.

Lauren Kimberly writes children’s stories with heart, imagination, and information. Her books are inspired by her work as an engineer, her lived experience as an autistic individual, and the everyday wonder she sees through the eyes of her children. Her stories explore community, curiosity, identity, and how children make sense of the world around them.

Lauren lives in Ottawa, Canada with her husband, two young children, and 70 pound poodle (whose tail is curlier than a curly fry). She self-identifies as a serial creative, often juggling no less than 12 different crafty-type endeavors at any given time.
