Meet Carrie Karnes-Fannin

Carrie Karnes-Fannin

The Gnomies are thrilled to have Carrie Karnes-Fannin join the GRP team with her debut picture book, Universe Pie. Using a recipe-style narrative, Carrie leads the way on an adventure like no other. Readers are transformed into cosmic chefs who are left with an appreciation not only for baking the perfect apple pie, but for how it all came to be in the first place. Paired with the delightfully magical illustrations of artist Anita Bagdi, this book is sure to be a stellar creation!

When Carrie was nine and living in Arkansas (where it seldom snows), she read The Call of the Wild. While Carrie’s attempt to turn her family’s dachshund and beagle into sled dogs failed, Jack London did succeed in sparking her desire to create stories.

Carrie is a contributor to Wild Ink Press’ middle-grade anthology Clio’s Dash Through Time, Dirigible Balloon’s anthology Sky Surfing, and several issues of Little Thoughts Press Magazine. Universe Pie will be Carrie’s debut picture book.

When she’s not writing, drawing, or taking pictures, Carrie enjoys re-reading the works of comedic genius Douglas Adams. Carrie believes “42” answers the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything else, but unfortunately she’s misplaced her towel.

Carrie lives in the Appalachian foothills with her husband, their groovy dog Bodhi, and fond memories of her muse Langston—a perfectionist cat who would be grumpy about being last on this list.
