Meet Lorenzo Lind
Get ready to laugh and learn with author Lorenzo Lind's sweet, but slightly dark-humored story, A SNACK FOR. MR. CHOPPERS, set to release with Gnome Road Publishing in the spring of 2027. Paired with the whimsical, adorable style of illustrator Hannah Marks, this book will have kids swimming in giggles as an alligator mistaken for a swim instructor attempts to teach his scrumptious-looking "snacks" some new moves in the pool.

Lorenzo Lind grew up in beautiful Alaska, where summers spent camping and fishing sparked a lifelong love of nature and science. She also loved reading books by flashlight under the stars, discovering that stories could make the world feel even bigger and more exciting.
A former science teacher and assistant librarian, Lorenzo writes funny stories that inspire and entertain young readers. Her first published story, about prehistoric dragonflies, appeared in Spigot Science magazine.
Her picture book debut, A Snack for Mr. Choppers, was inspired by her two boys, who were afraid to learn how to swim. Wanting to encourage them and other reluctant swimmers, Lorenzo created Mr. Choppers, a fun, slightly devious alligator who brings humor and mischief to the water. Through his antics, she hopes to help children approach swimming with curiosity, confidence, and a willingness to try something new.
When she’s not writing, Lorenzo enjoys experimenting with gluten-free recipes, traveling, and crocheting whimsical succulents and animals. Whether she’s dreaming up a story or making something by hand, she delights in finding playful possibilities in everyday life. She lives in Massachusetts with her family and a fluffy orange cat named Sebastian.
